What We Do

 

    1. Convene Shalom Farms Network partners and form agreements necessary to develop, operate, and sustain Shalom Farms & its regional Network
    2. Manage farm operations to grow 8,000 pounds of produce per acre (1 acre in 2009)
    3. Distribute fresh produce to FeedMore (Central Virginia Food Bank) for redistribution in 3 targeted food-insecure neighborhoods (2009)
    4. Provide education & training on various topics related to food security, gardening, nutrition, food preservation, food preparation, and community development (on farm & in neighborhoods)
    5. Facilitate broad-scale volunteerism on farm and in neighborhood site(s)
    6. Support social entrepreneurship activities (i.e. gardening & canning for market)
    7. Provide technical expertise
    8. Provide community outreach
    9. Using Asset Based Community Development, build community within and across Metro Richmond neighborhoods to foster physical, social, economic, and spiritual well-being
